Popular anime shows like Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, or Pokemon have many things in common but what we all remember from them were their cool, catchy opening intros. Without these intros many of the popular animes from our childhood may never have been popular. The intro is usually composed of three elements: a catchy theme song, unique characters, and flashy animation. These elements are essential to attracting in new people to view the shows.
The past three months, I’ve been working on an animated video to bring my characters from my graphic novel to life. This animation revolves around the three main characters, Xavian, Boritta, and Nesia. The three main characters are anthropomorphic creatures; Xavian is a lion, Boritta is a female crocodile, and Nesia is an elephant. Each character has their own unique supernatural abilities. The characters have their own separate introduction in the opening intro that I created using Adobe Flash and Adobe Premier Pro. This animation combines the three elements to create a thirty-second animated intro for my graphic novel.
While I’ve very satisfied with the work I’m done. I don’t consider this video as complete. I’m going to add more scenes to the animation. I plan to submit the final version to future galleries and Film/Video competitions and events later this year. Let me know what you all think!
For the past three months I’ve been working on a thirty-second animated preview for Xavian. My goal is to have the animation displayed alongside my other works at future galleries. This will be great to draw in new fans and potential employers who need an illustrator/animator. I’m very proud of the job that I’ve done even though this was my first every using Adobe Flash. I’m positive all of my fans will be blown away. The completed animation will be released later this week. Throughout this week I’ll be sharing screenshots of what I’ve been working on these past months.
Three straight days of live stream coloring of Boritta and I believe I’m 80 to 85% done with this poster. The hardest part has already been done and all tha’s left is the few touch ups. The hardest of the poster was getting the sunset correct and getting the different shades of colors. Plus coloring the river underneath Boritta and creating a small purple glow. She has the most colors out of the other four poster and the longest rendering process. Which means slower save time. But I enjoy coloring Boritta and it shows. Let me know what you think!
Another live stream? Of course another live stream. This artwork isn’t going to do itself! We’ll be live today at 9PM EST. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube Channel. Youtube.com/xaviangubora
Had a good live stream and got a lot done last night. Here is where I’m at on the Boritta poster. At 9PM today I will be doing another live stream to work on the landscape. I’ll be shading in the vines, branches, leaves, and trunks. Let me know what you think of this piece.
Shockingly enough just putting down the flat/base colors down for Boritta took over 3 hours to do! I enjoyed it though, so I’m not upset about that. The hardest part is yet to come in this piece. And that will be the sun rays beaming through the tall trees, vines, and leaves. So I’ll be looking at multiple pictures to get a good idea of what I need to do and watch out for. The third hardest part will be the little river Boritta is levitating or jumping over. I’ve never colored water and never looked at how water reflection works. But I doubt it’ll be too hard to figure out.
We end the five poster series with Boritta. I saved the best character for last. Just from first observation you can tell this piece is the most complex out of the other four posters. Every since I first sketch Boritta two years ago I’ve always said she’s the most difficult and funnest character for me to draw. So what better way to end this series with a bang. If you’ve followed along this past month on this blog or on YouTube. You’d know that these 5 main characters will have the most impact on the Xavian series throughout the first 4 chapters.
I got to say thanks to Alvarex for the amazing inks he’s done. I’ve enjoyed working with him this past month and hope to continue to work with him in the future. My artwork has gone to a whole new level and when I finish coloring it, Boritta will probably be the best-selling poster out of the series in my opinion. Sorry Xavian, but it’ll be tough to beat Boritta’s poster.
Most people do not know this but Boritta is my favorite and hardest character to color and draw. Boritta’s color scheme is the most complicated and the most noticeable between Xavian and Nesia. The way Boritta carries herself as the strong female character and being the leader of the trio are some of the reasons why I love drawing her.
