I know I haven’t posted in a long time but I’ve submitted Xavian to galleries around the country to build our audience. I’m glad to say that Xavian has been successfully accepted at some galleries. Xavian will be featured in the “ONCE UPON A TIME: Fairy Tales, Fables and Myths” at The Arts Council Fayetteville/Cumberland County in Fayetteville, NC. The exhibition will last from March 25 – April 16, 2016. More updates later today!!
Three straight days of live stream coloring of Boritta and I believe I’m 80 to 85% done with this poster. The hardest part has already been done and all tha’s left is the few touch ups. The hardest of the poster was getting the sunset correct and getting the different shades of colors. Plus coloring the river underneath Boritta and creating a small purple glow. She has the most colors out of the other four poster and the longest rendering process. Which means slower save time. But I enjoy coloring Boritta and it shows. Let me know what you think!
Had a good live stream and got a lot done last night. Here is where I’m at on the Boritta poster. At 9PM today I will be doing another live stream to work on the landscape. I’ll be shading in the vines, branches, leaves, and trunks. Let me know what you think of this piece.
Here is my progress on the Phoenix poster. I’m currently on day 3 of working with this and I’m loving the results. I really sat down at my laptop and went to work. Researching bird’s anatomy which included an eagle, hawk, and I believe a hummingbird? Don’t quote me on that last one. I did some more research on Phoenixes and discovered that it is “believed,” not 100 percent certain, to have originated from Ancient Egypt. It was usually depicted with the halo of the sun behind it or on top of its head. In early christian literature they are shown to also have the halo of the sun and sun rays coming from behind it. So I incorporated that into my work and it has helped bring out the Phoenix.
Here is a late night drawing of a page in my graphic novel. I’m using Adobe Illustrator for the inking and then when I’m finish the next job will be coloring in Photoshop! My goal is to complete 2-3 pages a day.
This is the spacedock that is orbiting Xavian’s planet. The concept behind this panel is to make a strong point to show my readers where the story will be taking place throughout the first chapter of Xavian. I want to make this panel very detailed because this is the first scene for this story so I want to start on a good note to keep the readers wanting to read more. The story takes place in space and in the distant future so I thought of some ideas that would blend those two elements. So I looked online for sci-fi themes and I came across a Star Trek space dock and that’s where I got the inspiration to make the space dock for Xavian.
